Chris, Sarah and I make one last music video for the Outlier before we head off to school. We brought back the Green Screen and filmed it in HD this time. Chris and I wrote this, I filmed and edited it.
In 2009 I filmed a time lapse of the 2009 Minnesota North Star Regional Field Setup. This year I filmed a time lapse of the other arena. It was shown at the closing ceremonies of both the 2010 10,000 Lakes Regional and the North Star Regional. I timestamped it in Final Cut using a time code generator and some frame cropping.
This video accompanies the team’s submission for the Chairman’s award, the most prestigious award FIRST gives out awarded to the team that best represents the ideals of FIRST. I wrote, directed and edited this 3-minute video within a week. We tried to be as creative as we could within the constraints of the Chairman’s video (must talk about outreach efforts to spread interest in Science and Technology).
This animation was also entered into the FIRST Robotics Autodesk Visualization Animation competition. The 2010 theme asked teams to ”Change Your World“ through technology. Our team came up with the idea of generating clean power just by doing normal activities at home. I assisted with script writing and handled post-production for this animation.
Probably one of my favorite videos. Our band director Mr. Webb lent his famous sound bites to this auto-tuned remix. My friends Matt and Daniel brought the voice clips to me and we created a short song using Antares Auto-tune and Garageband. I later synced the video to the lyrics. It was shown at the 2010 Edina Pops Concert.
A video made for the 2010 Edina Pops Concert “Pops Rocks.” This video was written by my friends Chris and Sarah. They filmed it, I edited it. The video was quite the hit at the concert.
Continuing the tradition of 3-part trombone section skits in the Edina Pops, the trombone section this year made a series of videos about making their way back to Pops after a helicopter crash. I wasn't in the videos due to my time constraints, but I was in the 3rd part which occurred on stage. I edited the videos and created the title slide.
Entry into the 2009 Flu Prevention PSA Contest. Unfortunately, it didn't make it into the finals.
This video was created in early summer 2009 and is the 4th marketing video I created for the team. This was something that I did on my own, handling filming, interviewing, editing and distribution.
A movie created for the MELSA Quiet on the Set Short Film Competition. It was written and directed by my friend Erik. I filmed and edited the movie. We actually had to shoot it twice because my video camera had dirty heads the first time.
A movie written by my friend Terry for his Art of Film class. An obligatory note: mild language is used in the film. I edited the movie.
One of Chris's videos for his AP US History class. Made in about 2 weeks. I edited.
9 Hours of film compressed to 90 seconds. Shows the setup of the playing field for the Minnesota North Star Regional. And yes I did sit next to the camera for all 9 hours.
Team 1816's entry for the 2009 Autodesk Visualization Award, part of the FIRST Robotics Competition. It won best animation in the 2009 Minnesota North Star Regional. I handled post-production for this and came up with the concept. Ross had textured the car with millions of tiny bumps and then rendered shadows for each of those bumps. It took a lot longer than we expected and we almost missed the deadline.
Video created for the EHS production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Shown during the overture. The overture audio is the actual recording from the show.
Safety animation created for the 2009 FRC competition. Animated by Ross P. and edited by Me.
A follow up to the 2008 promotional video, this one was for the first ever Double Regional. I edited and shot this video.
The second music video for The Outliers. You can sing along in Japanese! I used a green screen effect in a few places in the video. The screen was made out of bolts of bright green fabric that got stitched together. The resulting screen was hung on my garage and the band played along to the song while I filmed them using three SD cameras. Despite the SD compressed footage, Final Cut did a pretty good job of creating the effect.
David Cook talks about being... an American Robo Idol. Video made after David Cook won American Idol in 2008. 1816's team captain was also named David Cook and so this video was made. I did filming and post-production as always.
This year's marketing video was split into 3 different versions. The two versions below are for new teams and sponsors, as the returning sponsors video only had one section removed. I did editing, filming and post-production again.
An adaptation of Dan Brown's novel of the same name. A project for my 10th Grade English class. I edited and did post-production.
Animation created for the Visualization award, part of the FIRST Robotics Competition. Animated by Ross P., edited by Me.
A promotional video for the first ever FIRST regional in Minnesota that I edited.
A documentary produced for the Outliers.
A funny (or scary) short by Chris and his friend Kian that I edited.
The 2007 marketing video for The Green Machine. I filmed, edited and made background music from loops like last year's video.
My brother Ken decided to play all 120+ holes of mini-golf in Ocean City one year.
The first video of this kind made for The Green Machine, FIRST Robotics team 1816. I filmed and edited the video and made the background music in GarageBand.
Another short film with Chris. Made on short notice in time for the holidays. I did editing for this.
This is one of the first movies that uses the Artistic Gello animation at the end of it. It was also one of the first movies I edited using Final Cut (and so far one of the longest scripted videos I've edited). I handled editing and post-production for this video.
